Traveling around the world is definitely a dream job! One of my favorite parts of the job, is checking out local bakeries to find the best of the best! Here’s my five favorites from around the globe!
1. Florencio Bistro & Patisserie in Buenos Aires, Argentina

This bakery/cafe is definitely a hidden, secret, in the know spot. Even the locals don’t know about it! But, it’s the best bakery in the city! For this one, we’ve given you a map, because as we said, it’s definitely hidden. When you find it, you’ll have to make a choice between the delicious apple pie or the dolce de leche chocolate cake!
2. Medialunas Calentitas in La Barra & Jose Ignacio, Uruguay
Sweet, buttery half moon croissants served warm and always delicious. This is the perfect place for a sugary after beach bite or late night snacking. Once the clubs close you’ll find tipsy club goers gathering in the La Barra location till the sun comes up chatting about the nights events and enjoying these little pieces of heaven.
Coming soon to NYC & Los Angeles!!!!!
3. Babycakes in San Diego, CA
Cupcakes and cocktails…what an ingenious combination!!!! Of all the cupcake shops that have been popping up around the US, this shop is hands down my favorite!!! It’s easy to be the best with unique combos like “Breakfast in Bed”- where it tastes like, exactly what it sounds like…a little hint of syrup, bacon, pancakes…all the best parts of breakfast. And the cocktails are made to order and as sinful as the cupcakes! FYI: They also offer amazing lunch options and a cool wifi cafe for you to sit and enjoy your cupcakes!
4. Ferrara Bakery & Cafe in NYC, NY
One of Little Italy’s oldest and best bakeries serving up Italian favorites like chocolate covered cannoli , truffle cakes and more cookies than you could ever imagine! We suggest getting your treats for take-out as the line for a table is incredibly long!
5. Melia Pasteleria in Cartagena Colombia
Mila Vargas definitely has the best bakery shop/cafe in the old-city of Cartagena. It seems like everything is covered in dolce de leche including brownies and pancakes! You can also get hot chocolate made with steamed milk, hot water and a couple chocolate bars thrown in. This is one spot that is always busy and can’t be beat!

I love the Picton Village Bakkerij – a wonderful Dutch bakery in New Zealand (46 Auckland Street, Picton).
Oooh, I am so hungry right now! I’ve been to a few good bakeries in my time, but I found many of those by accident when stopping for a snack in the middle of a trip and, silly me, I didn’t make note of the names. However, if you’re ever in Barbados, I can recommend the desserts from Mamma Mia’s – an Italian place that does a nice range of salads too (just in case you start feeling guilty about he cake!)
those brownies in the last photo look soooo good!!
I believe that you missed a place, from the list. Last year i ween to germany, on Hamburg, and had the chance to eat some kind of pie, which are being made just on special ocasions, like Christmas. They call the “Berlinez Pie” and has a special flavor of sheridan’s. You must go there, and try it, its absolutely very good. They really have some very good bakery and bistro out there, where you can find some of the best pies all over the world.
This looks so delicious and being such a sweet tooth, I would definitely go and check out all the above mentioned places
For me, my favorite bakeries so far are in Paris. I think they have the best macarons and I love them. But it is hard to pick just one place out of so many.
Wow! by just looking at those foods makes my mouth water..they simple proved that they are the best bakers in town! Keep it up!
