When I am planning a trip to a new country I usually hit the popular Expat forums for the city/country (I Google “country/city + expat forum). Local expats always have the “real” scoop on what’s happening especially when it comes to bars, clubs and places to eat where the tourists don’t usually go. The local hangouts are always the best. Virtual Tourist is also good but allot of the info there is written by the cash strapped backpacker crowd so it doesn’t really do people like us any good – nothing against people that stay in 15 dollar a night hostels, but its just not my thing anymore.
